FIVE HIGH SCHOOL INTERACT STUDENTS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS
Park City Rotary Club awards $10,000 to Park City High School students
High school students are the future leaders of the community. Recognizing that, the Park City Rotary Club provides $10,000 in scholarships each year as a part of its partnership with the Park City High School Interact Club. Five deserving high school seniors will receive scholarships at a special ceremony Wednesday, May 29 at the Eccles Center.

Park City’s Interact is thriving, with over 100 members. This past year the club managed nearly a dozen separate service projects ranging from its work with the Park City Rotary Club on the Hopi Indian Reservation in Arizona, eyeglass cleaning with the Hope Alliance, a clothing drive with the local Christian Center, a Valentine’s Day program for a local assisted living facility and showcasing an iron lung at school to draw awareness of Rotary’s vision of eradicating polio in the world.

“Rotary is an easy way to help in the community,” said Interact President Camille Breiholz.  “There is always a way to do service - there’s always something to be done. Our Park City High School Interact Club reflects that.”
Rotary is all about service - making communities better places to live. Local Rotarians take great pride in the accomplishments of the Interact students. “These young leaders continue to amaze us,” said Rotarian Christina Miller, who works closely with the Interact students. “They truly embody service over self. We feel there’s great value for our community to invest in the Interact Scholarship.

Scholarship winners include Breiholz, Elise Beller, Skylar Jackenthal, Jessica O'Neal and Emme Phillips.

Breiholz, the Interact president, will be attending Loyola Marymount University studying psychology. She served three years on the Interact board and a year as president. “This scholarship will help reduce the cost of my education, allowing me to pursue more service opportunities,” she said. “I am grateful to Rotary for the scholarship and the experiences Interact has provided me.”

Beller is headed for the University of Utah, studying nursing and competing on the Utes’ NCAA swim team. “The Interact scholarship will help me finance my education and to allow me to continue my service work,” she said. “I’m incredibly. Honored to be receiving this scholarship and plan on continuing to be a part of Rotary in the future.”

Jackenthal, a three-year board member, is attending Babson College this fall studying entrepreneurship. “The scholarship will help with my education and also support my upcoming service trip where I will continue my work teaching youth abroad.”
A two-year board member, O’Neal is planning to study biological sciences at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.”I am extremely grateful to receive this scholarship,” she said. “I hope to continue doing service through Rotary in the future.”

Phillips will be studying marketing next fall at Pepperdine University. “I was happy to be able to connect with the scholarship program through the Interact Club,” she said. “The scholarship will help with tuition and will help my parents and I.”

“Our Rotary Club gives back to our community in many ways, from our small grants program to scholarships,” said Club President Claudia McMullin. “Helping high school students learn the value of service is a core part of our work in the Park City community.”
